Theme

What is a Theme?
The theme is a phrase or slogan which packs as much meaning as possible into a few powerful words and expresses the essence of the year. A theme is a characteristic of a book that runs throughout the entire book. It is the flavour that the book will take on.

A Theme Uses:

  • Colour
  • Design
  • Graphics
  • Words

How else would we remember company names, products, or sevices? Put a cute jingle together and it sticks in people's heads. Themes make people remember the yearbook and it adds to the excitement when going through the book.

Themes have positive impacts in two ways:

  • The establish instant recognition
  • The associate the yearbook with a positive activity, attitude, or emotion

    A Good Theme Should:

  • Attract reader interest
  • Sum up the year
  • Be recognized by all
  • Encompass school spirit
  • Flow through-out the entire book

Use words and slogans that are new and depict the age that we live in now. Your yearbook should reflect the attitudes of people now, not 10 years ago
