5 ways to dress up your web page


This is the Course Outline for  Photography at MHS for the 2nd Semester
Throughout the next semester you will be introduced to a variety of new  photographers, techniques and ideas.
Please refer back to this page throughout the semester for added links, project explanations, due dates, technique workshops, and more.
Click on Project Titles to go to explanations of each assignment.
Notebook assignments ( "Questions of the day?") are given each week and are to be done in class.
Use the attached links to gather information to fully explain your answers in your notebooks.

We are going to create 10 good portraits from our 5 different shoots (x2 setups).
Things you should do; crop, auto-adjust  levels, color and contrast, manual- adjust levels, color and contrast,
and repair minor flaws- background, face, etc.
 

Improve Portrait with PhotoShop tools.

Fix Tone and overall color

The final result


Please do not do any "specials" to these photos- filters, b & w, hand color, etc.
Please print each one out as a 5x7" (yes, all 10). You and I will decide which ones are your 4 best- which I will print and you will matt.

6 unmatted = 25 pts, 4 matted= 50 pts total of 350 total points.
 


Week 4
Portraits Creative-
Once these are completed as straight photos, we are going to create 6 creative photos from 6 of your best (different) portraits.
You choose the 6 tutorials you want to try, from the 8 examples below.
Be Creative! Print out as 5x7" when completed.

Project- Seven Deadly Sins
#1 What are the "Seven Deadly Sins", list and write a definition for each.

 "Night Photography"-
During class this week, research (using the internet) "night photography". Find as much as you can about this "subject"- times to use,
film to use, shutter speeds, painting with light, use of flash at night, how to shoot lightening, etc. 
Complete this first, because during this week you will need to go out and shoot at least 1 roll and possibly 2 rolls of ideas dealing with "night photography". I want you to be developing film on , this gives you Tuesday-Monday nights to shoot.
You will be using one of my Pentax cameras, tripod and cable releases (take care of my equipment)! 
Before you begin, please write down at least 6 ideas (yes you can try different ideas once you start, but you need to have a plan!)

Series of Photos with a Common Element
     ( Photo within a photo)


Project:  A "series" of six prints will be due which have a common theme.
Consider shooting each of these types and develop an idea for each of the different areas below.
Include these in your notebook, along with your choice for your shoot.
Can shoot during class, contact sheet due Tuesday, April 2nd!




 

Famous photographers,
research them finding information on their life, contributions to photography
and interesting trivial knowledge.
Create a PowerPoint project that highlights some of their photographs, you will
also write/read a report (yes typed, and turned in) that will accompany your Power Point show. Your slides should correspond to your oral report.
At least 10 slides, focus on their photography!
