A major advantage of owning a SLR camera is reflex viewing. You see exactly what the lens sees. This leaves no mistake of missing that important shot, or cutting off someone's head in the photo. Another advantage of owning a SLR camera is that you have the ability to change lenses. You can attach a wide-angle lens to capture the perfect sunset.

Note that SLR cameras can become considerably more expensive than point-and-shoot cameras. If you want a simple, easy-to-use camera, then a point-and-shoot camera may be the better choice for you. The quality of point-and-shoot cameras has increased over the past few years. They enable to user to simply point and click. Unfortunately, they do not allow the use of additional lenses. You also do not have many camera features. Point-and-shoot cameras are great for beginners and for basic photography. If you're the type of person who does not like to read the manual, and want an easy to use camera - then a point-and-shoot is the best choice for you. |
