Week 11
March 24- 28
Project- Self Portrait without a tripod or self-timer
If you are given a roll a film and are asked to shoot photos of yourself, how
would you approach the task?
Would you get a tripod and find the self timer on the camera -sorry not an
option!
How else could you shoot photos of yourself?
Ideas- Reflections!
Where do we find reflections? (mirrors, windows, water, etc.)
Can you list ten things that would reflect your image? (try)
What ways could you make these images more interesting? (other people in image,
backgrounds, hands, etc.)
1. Check out the website linked below to discover
some new ideas?
As you view these, write down at least 10 ideas that really inspire you.

2. Although this web site is a bit different than our project, check this out
for more ideas.
Write down any that really interest you.
Challenge:
Reflections Without Mirrors
.
6. Series of Photos with a Common Element
( Photo within a photo?)
Project: A "series" of six
prints will be due which have a common theme.
Consider shooting each of these types and develop an idea for each of the
different areas below.
Include these in your notebook, along with your choice for your shoot.
SIX similar subjects in very different contexts
SIX different subjects in very similar contexts
SIX photos with a common element (object or concept)
SIX photos that follow a progression (could be a progression in time, or a
progression of change)
SIX photos that tell us a story
7. "Night Photography"-
During class this week, research (using the internet) "night
photography". Find as much as you can about this "subject"- times
to use, film to use, shutter speeds, painting with light, use of flash at night,
how to shoot lightening, etc.
Complete this first, because during this week you will need to go out and shoot
at least 1 roll and possibly 2 rolls of ideas dealing with "night
photography". I want you to be developing film on , this
gives you Tuesday-Monday nights to shoot.
You will be using one of my Pentax cameras, tripod and cable releases (take care
of my equipment)!
Before you begin, please write down at least 6 ideas (yes you can try different
ideas once you start, but you need to have a plan!)
Use your imagination, my expectations are very high for
your projects.
