Snow- Font 

1.Start with text. Serif text is more fun, and middle-gray background makes it easier to see the snow. The text should be on it's own layer.

2. Hold down the Control key, and click on the text layer in the Layers Palette to select the text. Hold down the Shift key, and click the Up Arrow key to move the selection up to 10 pixels.

3. Hold down the Control and Alt keys and click on the Text layer to deselect the text. That will leave only the area for the snow.

4. With the selection active (army of ants), add a new layer (Snow) and fill the selected area with white. Then deslect everything.

5. With the snow layer active, turn the white area into snow by selecting Filter Stylize Diffuse (normal).

6. To add icicles, rotate the canvas 90* clockwise and select filter Stylize Wind from the left. Apply this filter twice and rotate the canvas back.
