Art Projects 2010
Projects-
During this class I am allowing my Art Projects students to have
total control over their projects. I want each student to develop
a plan/idea for each of their projects. Projects can be created in any
area you feel comfortable with or in a medium you want to try to experiment
with. Each of these projects should be major works and should be challenging for
you. Be creative and really test yourself. I do want you to be original. Yes you
might get an idea from another's' art or photographs, but you must adapt your
project ideas to be original. In your sketchbook you must include your evolution
of the project (ideas, reference photos, rough drafts, and critique of work),
this is part of your grade and is very important. You must fill out a project
proposal form and have it approved before beginning any project. All projects must be self-evaluated and also matted if it is a 2-D work.
You must create at least 2 major projects during each 9 week quarter.
Before you begin on a project you must complete a "Project Proposal Form",
plus complete the research page
over your proposed subject area. You could complete research over a
particular artist, technique or area of art.
Project Proposal Form
Sketchbook-
I will give selected Sketchbook assignment which tie into certain events,
exhibits or art/photo issues.
It is your responsibility to check the web page section for your particular
class early each week and complete
assigned questions and sketchbook activities outlined for each week. These
assignments are due each Monday/Tuesday at the start of your hour and should be
completed outside of class time (homework!)
Sketchbook List
Grades-Your grades will be based on craftsmanship, desire for
improvement, understanding of the assignment/project, and personal effort. Each
assignment will graded on an individual basis
and your demonstration of improvement throughout the semester will have a major
impact on your grade. There are three areas which grades will be taken-
Daily Work- 20% Includes daily assignments, and participation grade.
If you are
absent, you need to makeup all the time you missed
Sketchbook- 20% Includes weekly sketchbook assignments, plus any assigned
work which is expected to be completed outside of the class.
Projects- 60% Includes all major projects.
Expectations-
My expectations of you are very straight forward, I expect
you to demonstrate the best of your abilities throughout the Semester. I expect
you to complete all daily work, homework and projects.
I do not give extra credit work, so it is important to keep your grade up you
need to complete all assignments
It is very important in an Advanced class to keep the lines of communication open, if
you do not understand an area or need help or would like to know about your
progress/grade - please ask.
You can always talk to me in class or e-mail me at
