Electric Guitar Design is a type
of
industrial design where the looks and efficiency of the shape as well as the
acoustical aspects of the guitar are important factors. In the past many guitars
have been designed with all kinds of odd shapes as well as very practical and
convenient solutions to improve the
usability of the object.

Project- Understand the history of guitar design through research and focus on one design of one type electric guitar. Understand the size and scale length of most electric guitars. Create a good scale drawing for your own design of an electric guitar. Create a life-size model of your guitar made out of insulation foam, showing great detail for pickups, knobs, frets, etc. Paint your guitar to really show the
#1 Research the history of the electric guitar- write a
short paper in your own words about interesting facts you find along the
research journey.
#2 Pick one of the historical designs of electric guitars- complete research
over that guitar creating a short research paper over your chosen guitar
design. Include pictures of your chosen guitar.

#3 Begin to design your guitar, what shape will it have, what will the head
stock look like. It must be of normal scale length and it must have 6 strings,
beyond that the design is totally up to you but it should be unique. Once your
thumbnails have been approved, begin creating your large scale drawings. See
examples below.

#4 Once your large scale drawings are completed , begin to
construct your guitar pieces.
You will have to cut out your body and neck separate, gluing them together when
completed.
