Value Drawing with Pencil

1. Write your own definition of value? (Sketchbook)

2 Create a ten step value scale using pencil. (get a 12”x 18” piece of drawing paper)

3. Using a piece of 8 1/2” x 11” typing paper, crumble up and place in front of you.
On the same piece of 12” x 18” drawing paper, draw what you see magnified X 2.

(twice as big) Use value, show shadows and table textures. (1 Class period)

Compose a definition of ”Trompe L’ole” of your own, include four examples .

5. Major Project- (2 weeks)
In the style of the artist J.D. Hillberry create a Trompe L’ole using pencil.
Subject matter is up to you but it should be life size and look very real.
Your composition must include at least 3 things (objects or photographs) and will work together.
