Grading and Class
Expectations
Sketchbook-
I will give selected Sketchbook assignment which tie into certain events,
exhibits or art/photo issues.
It is your responsibility to check the web page section for your particular
class early each week and complete
assigned questions and sketchbook activities outlined for each week. These
assignments are due each Monday/Tuesday at the start of your hour and should be
completed outside of class time (homework!)

Course Outline
The Advanced Art program is based on mini- workshops and large projects;
these projects have some guidelines, but subject matter is usually up to the
student. Students expand upon their knowledge gained in the Foundations course,
continuing art techniques or ideas which were introduced in there. Students are
also exposed to Art History through videos, slides, periodicals, internet
searches, lectures and reports. In addition to projects; students will be given
daily sketchbook assignments, which will be turned in each Friday.

- Collage, Copy Art & Alternative Art
Students will be introduced to the techniques of collage, copy art and
alternative materials in this unit. After introduction and individual
experimentation, students will complete a composition utilizing knowledge
gained from workshop. 3 weeks. Size 12" x 18".
- Advertising and Design
Students will work as professionals on specific problems. Product design,
advertising, ad display, product production, product packaging problems and
sales will be some of the areas explored. Actual products will be produced.
Students will use computers for various parts or all of their products. 3
weeks.
- Individual/ Final Project
Students will complete a major composition as a final project.
Subject matter, medium (2-D only) & size is up to the students. Must be
completed by the end of the 1st Semester.
Students will learn how to matt artwork using matt boards, cutters and matt
tools. Each student will matt their artwork which will be in their
portfolios
( portfolios will be provided for all advanced art students). Students will
also create a website to showcase their artwork.
